The name for March’s full moon is the “ Full Worm Moon”. At the time of this spring moon, the ground has begun to soften and earthworm casts reappear, inviting the return of robins. This is also known as the Sap Moon, as it marks the time when maple sap begins to flow and the annual tapping of maple trees begins.
In North American sky lore, the March full moon is often called the Full Sap Moon, the Full Worm Moon, or the Full Crow Moon.
This full moon gives people in the northern hemisphere their first full moon of spring. And south of the equator, this is the first full moon of autumn.
Remember, full moons are all about manifestation. They give you the gumption to look around you and decide if it is all working. If you don’t like what you see—you can always change.

Spring Equinox, also known as Ostara, occurs in the middle of March.
This year’s Spring Equinox, occurs on March 20, and marks the beginning of Spring. This is the time of year that marks when days and nights are of equal length. During the Spring Equinox celebration, the Goddess manifests herself as Ostara with her basket of eggs (Easter Basket). She is accompanied by the Rabbit (Easter Bunny) as a manifestation of the God. Green has been sacred to this Equinox Sabbat since ancient pagan times. The color green represents the greening (re-birth/new growth) of the land with vegetation. This is a festival of new growth. The vernal equinox/Ostara is a time to celebrate the reawakening of Nature. It is spring after winter, the beginning after an ending, it represents life after death….. be that in a Christian or a pagan context. Whatever religion you may follow and whether or not you choose to connect the rising sun with the rising son, the vernal equinox still remains a celebration of resurrection and rebirth of the sleeping winter world that has surrounded us. Celebrate this day by preparing egg dishes and sharing them with your friends. Organize Easter egg hunts then afterward, play some hard boiled egg games! Decorate with spring flowers and sprouting greens. Wear green as an affirmation of the new growth within yourself . Bless any seeds you plan to plant in your garden and just for fun, get the kids involved by sprouting some seeds in egg shell halves that are filled with potting soil and nestled inside of an empty egg carton. Make a growth charm out of a hard-boiled egg -- decorate it with symbols, write on it the quality you would like to manifest more fully within yourself, energize it, and then eat it.

Bell: Used by some in magickal rituals employing the vibrations of sound. For centuries it has been thought to have certain magickal properties.
Broom: This is not an ordinary cleaning broom, but one specially set aside for cleaning out psychic clutter, clearing the space of unwanted energies and debris.
Cauldron/Kettle: This is a very important tool for brewing concoctions, teas and potions.
Knife: Two are set aside for the craft.
A light handled knife known as a Boline. This is a minor tool, a white hilted knife, is used for cutting herbs and any other use save magickal ritual in which the athame is implemented. Many paths differ on the need for the Boline. Seax-Wica on the other hand finds no need for it. It is a tool either abandoned or accepted by the various paths.
Mortar and Pestle: Used for crushing herbs and spices to be used in brews and potions.
Wand: Used for various magick in rituals. Deemed necessary in some paths, we do not believe in this necessity. The wand is usually a replacement of the athame for one reason or another and is considered much more empowered when the acceptance of the tree in question is received (never assume the tree will sacrifice this, always ask 'permission'). Wands are typically made of hardwoods such as Oak and Maple but may be of any desired tree-type and are usually adorned with a crystal of one form or another. They represent communication in its entirety.
